What is a Halloween Coloring Contest
A Halloween Coloring Contest is a fun competition, often held in schools, libraries, community centers, or by organizations around October, in which participants color a Halloween-themed drawing (pumpkins, ghosts, witches, black cats, haunted houses, etc.). The entries are judged, and prizes are awarded for categories like “Most Creative,” “Most Spooky,” “Best Use of Color,” “Best Overall,” etc.
Here are typical features:
-
Age groups / categories — Often broken into age brackets (e.g. 5–7, 8–10, 11–13, or adults) so people of similar skill compete together.
-
Coloring template — Organizers provide a black-and-white line drawing or printable that participants color. Sometimes free templates are available for download.
-
Submission method — Participants submit their finished colored page by a cut-off date (in person, by mail, or digitally/scan/photo).
-
Judging — A panel or group of judges evaluates entries based on criteria like neatness, creativity, originality, use of color, spirit of Halloween, etc.
-
Prizes or recognition — Winners receive certificates, small prizes (candies, art supplies), publication (e.g. their picture displayed), or social media recognition.
-
Exhibition or display — Sometimes all entries are displayed at a community event or gallery, or posted online.
